Here we are: Celebrating Halloween
This is how you spend a Halloween with your school. We are going to give you the world tour of Waterville.
We are going to tell you about the 4th grade celebrating Halloween.
First we are going to tell you about when we went to Mrs. Nelson’s house..
We went to Mrs., Nelsons house to get pumpkins and have cocoa, apple cider and cookies. The pumpkins we’re small and the cocoa and apple cider we’re hot. There were marshmallows in the hot cocoa. The cookies were awesome and home made. The’re were chocolate chip and sugar cookies! It was really good when you dipped it in the cocoa.
Next we will tell you about when we went trick or treating.
We went through the High school, City Hall, Store, Napa, Checkered table cloth, Blue Rooster, Woodworking shop, Coyote Pass cafĂ©, Bank, Knemeyers, Thrift shop, Mitchell’s Pharmacy, Kopey’s, Town Library, Dorsey insurance, NCW Maps, Post Office, NCW Bank, Courthouse, and then we went back to the school.
Last we will tell you about our classroom party.
The food we had was apples, pumpkins seeds, deviled eggs, popcorn gloves, brain, ants on a log and candy! For drinks we had water and blood with eyeballs in it. Last there were awesome costumes; there was a death stalker, rockers, dirt biker, skeletons, Cleopatra, witches, hobo, cheerleader, vampire, nerd, fat ladies, and a cowgirl.
Lewis and Clark: the expedition and new animals
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FlHdhXkhdg
We will tell you all about Lewis and Clark when they went on their expedition.
First we will tell you about the Louisiana purchases
Thomas Jefferson bought the land from France for 3 to 4 cent per acre so Thomas Jefferson Could buys more of the United States. They set up trade so they could get money. They could make friends so they could tell them where to go. For example, Sacagawea led them to places and Lewis and Clark met Sacagawea’s family. Lewis and Clark started in St. Louis. And ended in Astoria or fort Clatsop
Now we are going to talk about the people that were on the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Sacagawea led them places for an example they led them to Astoria, Oregon Washington, Idaho, and British Columbia. Sacagawea’s husbands name was Charbonneau. Lewis and Clark met him at the Mandan with the Indians. Sacagawea was a small young girl. Her band lived in what is now called Southeast Idaho. One day her tribe was attacked while they were out hunting for food. During the battle, the young girl was captured .the tribe that took her was the Hidatsa. They were a small band from North Dakota. The young girl was now living as their slave. Within a few years, she became the wife of a fur trader. Charbonneau was from Canada and spoke French. In the month of February they stayed at front Mandan. While
There, Sacagawea gave birth to her first child. He was named jean Baptist. Lewis and Clark Learned that Sacagawea was of one of the Shoshone bands. They hoped that she could help trade for horses and supplies once they reached her tribe. And so, Sacagawea and her husband became interpreters for Lewis and Clark’s crops. Now we are going to tell you about supplies.
Lewis and Clark brought 1 or 2 pars of clothing it was made out of bear skin and buck skin. They had a lot of leather. They had some dentil tools so when somebody needed some thing to help them. Fishing supplies they used spears to catch fish. Doctors used medicine, containers for if someone gets hurt. At the end day if they did well they got to have whisky. They made pots pans then they made food with the pots and pans. They bought tents along with them. They also hade sheets. They hade people that came along with interments. Now would you like to know about the plants that were on the Lewis and Clark Expedition?
They used some special kinds of plants for medicine they also eat some of the plants. The Indians tell them if they are poison or not poison.
Now we are going to tell you about animals.
Some animals that was new to science. That they saw were grizzly bear, prey dogs, beaver, bufflo, and raccoon. They were very interesting to the people and scientist.
Now you know about the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Sorting Words by Vowel Sounds
We are going to tell you about Vowel Sounds. The first thing we will tell you is about the rules of the game. First draw a card, then look at the word on the card, then put the card on the board in the correct box.
The second thing I will tell you about is the Board Game. There are different vowel sounds and there are 24 boxes on the game board. Also, the words are from our spelling words.
The last thing I will tell you about is that you must find the words that go with the sounds on the board. First, you find the same vowel sounds on the board. For example, Royal goes in the box of the sound of /oi/ or /oy/.
Now you know about the different types of vowel sounds game.

How much sugar is in your favorite drink?
If you can't read this, see the translation below.
We are going to tell you about the week we had health class with Ms. Jinca. During those 6 lessons we learned how to read labels, looked at the food pyramid, and how to choose healthy snacks. 1st we learned how to read labels we were looking for a drink or snack with not so much sugar, fat , or saturated fat. For example we decided that Mt. dew was not a good drink because of all the sugar in it. One day we saw how much sugar was in our favorite drink. The results were: Mt. Dew with 77 grams of sugar, Ice with 13 grams of sugar and Sobe with 75 grams. We also compared Gatorade, vitamin water, and tea but with these we did not remember the results. To measure the sugar we used 1 teaspoon per gram. As you can see we have learned how to choose healthy snacks and drinks by looking at nutrition facts.

TRS
Today we are going to tell you about Township, Range and Section. First we are going to show you the maps that we use. The maps we use are called Topo maps. They help us find the TRS. There are different maps too… like Lemoyne, and Rattle Snake Springs. There are also different fields… as in... Randy Mittelsaedt’s fields, and also Mike Grande’s fields. Next we will tell you about the 4 yard sticks you need. If you don’t have any, just pick some up at the hardware store or something like that. These sticks help us by… keeping TRS, it keeps us organized, and keeps all the boxes straight. The WHOLE wide world is divided into TRS… it’s weird if you ask me. Townships run east and west they are 6 miles wide. Ranges run north and south and are 6 miles wide. Inside each T R intersection there are 36 small squares called sections. Each section is 1 mile sq. and has a number 1-36. each section has quarter section in it. Some of these have labels as in NW, NE, SE, and SW. After that we get to practice on our horny toad sightings. It helps us get ready for the real thing when the farmers come with all the REAL data. Next it’s time to get on to Arc View. Arc View makes it a lot easier because if we didn’t have it we’d have to write all the sightings down, and mark all the sightings down. Now you know about TRS.
